Vaccines

It has come to my attention and anyone who reads the news that there is a sizable number of Republicans and evangelicals. I’ve also encountered the homeschool population raise objections to vaccines as a matter of personal liberty. One problem is that avoiding vaccines puts other children yours socialize with at risk. Additionally, non-vaccinating brings back diseases that were previously considered eradicated, like measles.

There have also been those in the anti-vax population who assert that vaccines can cause autism or neurological disorders. Many studies prove this is not the case. The Immunization Safety Review, a book, refutes this claim.

Many of those who reject vaccines do so out of a personal or religious belief. These individuals claim they know better than the medical establishment due to myths and uncorroborated stories. They prefer these individuals who are fear mongering without any scientific rigor or logical proofs to bolster their claim.

Some like JPHMP direct, assert that the discussions between patients and doctors ought to begin earlier during the pregnancy so that anxious parents are more used to the necessity of vaccinating their babies. Additionally, short discussions were found by this organization to be a leading cause of parents’ hesitancy to vaccinate their children.

Overall, most objections to anti-vaccinating are ill-founded and based on myths, fears, and conspiratorial thinking.
